ABOUT ME !

I’m Rand! I’m a creative with a passion for community and collaboration in the arts, and a dream of working in radio. I want to help build a future for radio that prioritizes stations’ surrounding communities, as well as supporting the innovative and artistic potential of the medium.

Local broadcast radio played a huge role in my childhood. I grew up listening to Christmas stations all through the night, laughing at advice shows, playing trivia to win dinner at a local diner, and finding steals on the radio flea market.

In college at SUNY Plattsburgh, I was heavily involved in the college radio station WARP, a fully online non-profit radio station. As a manager and general manager of the station, I enjoyed reaching out to the community, coordinating music, and hosting a show, but my favorite part was hearing each DJ bring something unique to the station.

Music was my first love. As I’ve grown older and studied audio/radio production, music coordination has become one of my ultimate joys. I find so much fulfillment in creating well-thought-out pairings for radio music programming and mixtapes alike, and it’s something that I find myself dedicating a lot of time to.

I’ve also become enamored with the world of audio field recording, and recording live music in particular. I’ve recorded and produced one live album for local punk band Lagrogg from Plattsburgh, NY.

I am constantly looking for a creative outlet, and will try to find a way to turn any project into an expressive work that I can be proud of. One of these outlets is visual arts, and a love for printmaking in particular.

Other than that, I love horticulture, cooking, and going for walks. I’m now based in New Jersey, with my lovely girlfriend, and am excited to be living so close to New York City!
